Position Summary:

Develop successful strategies to integrate and onboard new materials and suppliers into our facilities and network. Support relationships to ensure successful transitions through knowledge of product quality factors, processing opportunities, quality tools and systems. Optimize continuous improvement decisions to provide competitive advantage to Kroger. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Essential Job Functions:
  • Integrate new material and/or suppliers into our supply chain through strong understanding of plant operations, continuous improvement and sourcing strategies.
  • Facilitate product testing through the development of critical to quality standards and vertical start up methodologies.
  • Assess, mitigate and manage material quality risks to ensure product quality at the shelf.
  • Provide input and collaborate with appropriate teams throughout the six step strategic sourcing process; provide feedback to align them to status and timelines for integration.
  • Develop and manage an effective supplier transition integration effort for ingredients, commodities, dairy and packaging materials.
  • Partner with appropriate teams to understand and develop product specifications for raw materials.
  • Lead, support, and coordinate cross-discipline teams.
  • Collaborate with appropriate teams to monitor vendor performance.
  • Assist in the development of quality corrective actions and goals for respective suppliers.
  • Ensure quality issues are resolved in a timely manner with quantifiable corrective actions.
  • Ensure business needs and technology capabilities are linked, established, and maintained for all key relationships.
  • Optimize supply base with a goal of moving toward a few strategic suppliers.
  • Develop TPC and Quality skills in the organization by using current and future technology and processes.
  • Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
  • Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Business Management or related fields.
  • 5 + years of plant operations experience.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel independently.
  • Strong knowledge of supplier industry that is specific to the position.
  • Excellent Project Management skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail and must be able to take managed risks.
