Sales Associate & Designer

Department: Sales

Reports To: Sales Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sales Associate/Designer is responsible for sales of Company closets, wall units, kitchens and bathrooms. This position is responsible for building relationships with designers and architects, determining their needs, creating the sales strategy, the initial design, coordinating with drafters and factory, closing sales and follow up. Be a champion of Company’s values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pre-Design:
  • Warmly greet clients/visitors, offer water/coffee, walk them through the showroom and show all Company products
  • Determine their needs by asking key questions in order to create a solution best designed to meet their needs
  • Obtain floor plan from client; if no floor plan, visit the site and measure


Design:
  • Prepare a hand drawn design based on client needs
  • Analyze the space, e.g. is soffit required, removal of baseboards, walls
  • Calculate the configuration based on the modules given by the factory
  • Resolve questions regarding appliances, etc.to be sure what they want to do is possible
  • Add project into queue for proposal drafters
  • Provide drawings and elevations for proposal drafters; convert US to metrics


Proposal:
  • Verify that rendering compares with notes
  • Verify pricing and conversion rate is correct
  • Assemble final proposal with the pricing in Excel
  • Develop the sales strategy to appeal to the client
  • Meet with Director to review
  • Finalize the package and Power Point presentation


Presentation:
  • Arrange client presentation in showroom
  • Walk the client through the presentation discussing design, finishes, space planning, pricing and engage client’s feedback
  • Provide client with pricing only when they leave


Follow up:
  • Determine if there are changes determined at the presentation
  • Give changes to proposal drafter


Closing:
  • Explain the entire process to client through to installation
  • Complete the Financial Protocol checklist, and obtain client signature on contract


After the sale: shop drawings

For Closet/Wall units:
  • Obtain final dimensions from client (or Drafter or Sales Associate to measure) and submit to factory with site photos and another floor plan, add dimensions by hand with notes and elevations, finishes, and special requests for factory to prepare shop drawings
  • Review shop drawings to be sure they are correct, red line any changes, have client sign
  • Send back to factory with changes and resolve changes
  • Prepare term of responsibility with shop drawings specifying who is responsible for the dimensions


For Kitchens and Bathrooms:
  • Obtain final appliance list from client
  • Obtain final dimensions from client (or Drafter or Sales Associate will measure)
  • Schedule the Drafters or Sales Associate to take measurements, give them a form with the finishes, appliance list, faucet specs and the presentation with notes
  • Obtain special requests with factory
  • Review and revise shop drawings, resolve changes and have client sign
  • Prepare term of responsibility with shop drawings specifying who is responsible for the dimensions


Production:
  • Complete production protocol form with final dimensions, pricing, shop drawings, and special requests and give to Office Manager to be sent to factory


Other duties:
  • Establish new and maintain existing relationships with clients through weekly visits to designers and architects and networking events
  • Track proposals on monthly basis and meet with General Manager once a week to review weekly agenda, shop drawings, follow ups, presentations; designer visits and status
  • Submit proposal list to Office Manager on 25th of each month
  • Other duties as assigned


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least an AA degree in interior design or equivalent from a technical school
  • Minimum 3 years experience in interior design, ergonomics, construction or related field with proven track record in sales
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients
  • Ability to apply math skills to calculate discounts, proportions, percentages, dimensions
  • Ability to define problems and determine solutions; interpret technical information in diagram form
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point), internet software and design software (AutoCad)
  • Must be multi-tasking to handle several projects at a time
  • Able to hand draw sketches in front of client
  • Excellent communication skills and team player
  • Builds relationships based on trust
  • Resourceful – knows who to call for what

  • Proficient with English and at least Spanish or Portuguese to communicate with factory
