Great opportunity for a talented Purchasing Assistant with a rapidly growing nationwide grocery chain. Full benefits direct hire position based in Moreno Valley.
Position Objectives
To assist the Director of Purchasing with merchandise management in regard to procurement, pricing and quality, as well as responding to customer concerns.
Responsibilities
- Assists in ordering and securing product for division
- Coordinates with suppliers and Corporate Purchasing
- Works to resolve product related customer concerns
- Verifies pricing accuracy of scanner retails, signs, and advertising
- Assists with produce buying: Negotiation, quality control, and regular communication with suppliers required
- Aids in the selection of outside freight companies
- Works cooperatively with leaders, co-workers, store and warehouse employees, District Managers, and Corporate Office employees
- Communicates with District Managers and stores regarding quality concerns
- Works proactively to identify, investigate, and report irregularities
- Conducts training of knowledge and expertise within area of responsibility.
- Demonstrates expense and cost control in decision making
- Maintains confidentiality and privacy of employee and company sensitive data
Minimum Education Required:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Skills and abilities
- Negotiating skills using compromise, persuasion, rationale, and diplomacy to arrive at satisfactory outcome
- Computer literacy required
- Proficient using Word, Excel, Outlook, and job-related software
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply company policies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good arithmetic skills
- Ability to understand, reconcile, and substantiate balances in general ledger accounts
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Ability to follow instructions, to organize, prioritize, and complete tasks
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in data entry and typing
- Ability to analyze and interpret data
