Job Summary

The Loss Prevention Agent is responsible for assisting the Area Loss Prevention Manager with Loss Prevention, Security, and Safety related issues within an assigned geographic area of responsibility. At the direction of the Loss Prevention Manager, LP Agents actively seek to prevent loss of organizational assets from both internal and external causes. The Loss Prevention Agent detects, investigates, and detains individuals attempting to misappropriate organizational assets, writes clear, concise and timely reports, communicates and trains LP programs, conducts LP and Safety audits, and serves as occasional liaison with local law enforcement.





Essential Functions:

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other stakeholders inside and outside the company.

Consistently demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrate sound decision making skills and consistently demonstrate the ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.

Effectively protect the company from losses due to external and internal causes.

Effectively utilize CCTV, sales floor activities, and other tools, to identify, monitor, and apprehend shoplifters, ticket-switchers, and others in a safe, legal and ethical manner. Write and submit clear and concise detention reports no later than 24 hours following incidents.

Promptly report any non-productive detentions to the assigned Area Loss Prevention Manager.

Appropriately respond to duress, fire or burglar alarms as requested.

Conduct and document assigned Loss Prevention and Safety audits in a timely manner.

Assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CCTV, Alarm, and Access Control equipment.

Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.

Perform other duties as assigned.





Qualifications:

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: High School Graduate. Some college or verifiable advanced security training.

Experience: Prefer at least 2 years of recent plainclothes loss prevention experience detecting and apprehending shoplifters

Specific Skills/Knowledge/Licenses: Loss Prevention Qualified (LPQ) or within 90 days of hire and 1st Aid/CPR certified within 6 months.

Must have basic high school graduate math skills and the ability to use a calculator to determine percentages.

Must be able to effectively use Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Ability to maintain reliable punctuality and attendance.





Essential Physical Abilities:

Lifting and carrying 20-30 pounds; Must have well-developed fine motor control and the ability to grasp, handle, finger and manipulate small and large items. Must be able to: perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists and arms, without pain or loss of function. Able to travel across a wide variety of surfaces including, but not limited to, ramps, stairs, and uneven terrain, and able to do so at a rapid pace if required. Must be able to climb ladders and use various lift and material moving equipment. Able to use a standard telephone and wireless audio communication system; sit or stand for moderately long periods of time; use a standard keyboard/computer; communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people, including those with limited English skills.





Essential Mental/Sensory Abilities:

Superior time management, ability to prioritize, excellent problem solving skills, decision making skills, and multi-tasking skills. Ability to analyze and interpret data, ability to organize, sort, categorize, count, add, and subtract.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, telephone etiquette, stress management skills, strong observation skills, good day and night vision, good hearing.





Working Conditions:

Loss Prevention Agent is expected to work varied schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Retail, warehouse and office working environments and schedules.

Working as a single agent making shoplift detentions.

Some late night, inclement weather, secluded area and solitary assignments.

Some after-hours camera installation, maintenance, and repair. Exposure to dust.
