Infection Control Coordinator RN

Dignity Health / Northridge Hospital Medical Center

The Program Coordinator RN collaborates with the Department Manager in all infection prevention related activities associated with surveillance, performance improvement, and education which are intended to ensure that the facility's patients, personnel & visitors will be protected from transmission of diseases & infection within the facility's environment as identified in the core competency model by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC). The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting the department to ensure compliance with TJC Hospital Accreditation Standards, State and CMS regulations, and for the daily operations of the Infection Prevention Department. The Program Coordinator will at all times uphold the best interests of NHMC and Dignity Health by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, committing to the values inherent in Dignity Health and NHMC Mission and Philosophy. Minimum six months experience in Infection Control or Microbiology or equivalent required. Must be within an acute care clinical setting.

Requirements: A minimum of 2 years experience in healthcare in an acute care setting required. Must have Bachelor of Arts or Science in a scientific or healthcare field (e.g. Microbiology, Biology, Nursing, Public Health) or Associate degree in Nursing with equivalent combination of degree and experience. Degrees in progress must be completed within 3 years of selection. Specialized training in infection control and prevention required. May include an extensive background in Microbiology or related area, or CDC equivalent course work in Infection Control. Active member of APIC (Association of Practitioners in Infection Control) or other related association preferred. Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred. Current CA RN License.
