To maintain a safe and secure environment for Mercy Memorial Health Center staff, visitors and patients. To assist all persons to the degree that he/she can. Provide protection and security of health center assets. Stress Safety and Security awareness. Performs all work in accord with the mission, vision, and values of Mercy Memorial Health Center.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities
1. Secure health center assets while promoting good will toward patients,
employees and staff.
1.1 On a daily basis, patrol entire health center grounds, while checking
for safety and security hazards, MAINTAINING TWO-WAY RADIO COMMUNICATIONS
AT ALL TIMES. A. THE SECURITY OFFICER WILL ENSURE THAT FREE AND
UNOBSTRUCTED ACCESS TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AND IT'S SERVICES FOR
EMERGENCY VEHICLES IS MAINTAINED.
1.2 In a courteous and hospitable manner, assist patients, visitors and
employees with needs of all types, receiving no more than one documented
complaint per quarter.
2. Keeps and monitors all records and reports.
2.1 Keeps a daily log of all calls.
2.2 WHEN REQUESTED, THE SECURITY OFFICER WILL PROVIDE ENTRANCE TO THE
MORGUE FOR PLACEMENT OR REMOVAL OF DECEASED. PROVIDING RELEASE OF BODY
FORM TO THE LAB, PREPARING AND FILING THE PROPER PAPER WORK IN THE SECURITY
POST, ACCORDING TO POLICY AND PROCEDURE.
2.3 At the end of each shift, make a report on all regular and unusual
activities including all incidents that have occurred.
2.4 Keeps records of all locks, lockers and parking decals according
departmental policies and procedures.
2.5 Enforces employee parking decals according to policy & procedures.
3. Performs transport and escort duties.
3.1 Maintains lost and found as well as valuable storage; transporting
valuables to and from owner's possession according to departmental policies
and procedures.
3.2 Escorts employees and/or visitors to and from the health center in a
hospitable manner, promoting good will among all. (evaluated on lack of
complaints and presence of compliments)
3.3 Transport health center visitors AS REQUIRED, adhering to all safety
precautions and established procedures.
3.4 Escort various department personnel with cash, medications and/or
valuables, ensuring timely delivery to the proper destination.
This is done according to departmental policy/procedure.
4. Present for all authorized entry as well as monitoring of any unauthorized
entry.
4.1 Check all doors, noting and documenting of all un- locked doors.
4.2 Check for broken locks or forced entry, documenting of occurrences.
4.3 Unlock doors for authorized personnel when requested, documenting of
all entries, UTILIZING PROPER SECURITY FORMS.
5. Assists in and addresses all safety issues.
5.1 Answers all fire and other emergency codes according to policy and
procedure.
5.2 Assists with Fire Response Team and other safety related groups as
needed.
5.3 Assists with monthly hospital-wide fire drills.
5.4 On a monthly basis, monitors and documents the working ability/
status of all hospital fire extinguishers AND/OR ATTENDS ALL FIRE
EXTINGUISHER SAFETY AND DEMONSTRATION PROGRAMS.
6. Participates in professional development activities.
6.1 Attends all mandatory inservice meetings.
6.2 Participates in one professional development school or seminar per
year.
6.3 Employee will have successfully completed the Oklahoma Council on Law
Enforcement education and training. (CLEET) Security Officer certification
program upon hire date.
7. General assistance and maintenance duties.
7.1 Provide general maintenance for health center vehicles assigned to
Security.

1.4 Assists patient and/or caregivers to safely enter and exit the transportation vehicle.
1.5 Instructs patients and/or caregivers in transport policy and procedure of Hyperbaric
and Wound Care Center.
1.6 Utilizes vehicle accessories as indicated to allow for safe entry and exit of
transportation vehicle.
1.7 Ensures all persons transported within transportation vehicle wear seatbelt and/or
safety harness for wheelchair at all times during transport
1.8 Communicates via cellular telephone only when stopped and vehicle is in park off
of street.
1.9 Responds to patient requests and anticipates patient's needs.
2 Maintains transportation vehicle in working condition.2.1 Proficient in all transportation
vehicle operating procedures.
2.2 Performs daily check of vehicle before first transport of the day.
2.3 Performs weekly check of vehicle per policy.
2.4 Notifies Nurse Manager of identified problems related to transportation vehicle.
2.5 Schedules and completes routine maintenance of transportation vehicle.
2.6 Schedules and completes repair appointments for transportation vehicle as
indicated.
2.7 Maintains interior of transportation vehicle to provide a clean and clutter free
environment.
2.8 Completes daily interior cleaning of transportation vehicle.
2.8.1 Empties trash at end of day
2.8.2 Wipes down seats and rails with approved cleanser at end of day.
2.8.3 Wipes interior of transportation vehicle between transport as indicated.
2.9 Maintains clean exterior of transportation vehicle.
2.9.1 Washes exterior of transportation vehicle at a minimum of biweekly.
3 Maintains records associated with operation of transportation vehicle. 3.1 Documents
daily check of vehicle per worksheet.
3.2 Documents weekly check of vehicle per worksheet.
3.3 Documents on transportation log for each patient and/or caregiver (staff/family)
transported.
3.4 Correctly identifies persons transported as elderly, disabled, or other as indicated.
3.5 Correctly documents reason for trip for each person transported.
3.6 Utilizes GPS device to assist with address directions for persons receiving
transport.
3.7 Updates GPS as indicated per device to ensure most accurate address availability.
4 Other duties as indicated4.1 Attends minimum of 75 percent of staff meetings.
4.2 Executes emergency procedures during transport as indicated.
4.3 Maintains HIPAA confidentiality at all times.
4.4 Verifies patients for transport by recognized patient identifiers (name and
birthdate)
Qualifications:

Education: High School or GED
Licensure: CLEET Security Officer and excellent driving record
