Providing health care services to nearly 250,000 residents of eastern Contra Costa County, Sutter Delta Medical Center remains the community's only not-for-profit acute care hospital. Its comprehensive services include 24-hour emergency care, surgery, family centers, obstetrics, pediatrics, acute rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging, occupational health, physical therapy, intensive care and coronary care. Cardiac catheterization, sports rehabilitation and home health services are also among the medical center's areas of specialized care. The primary role of the Special Care Nursery Registered Nurse is to coordinate the delivery of care for the neonate who requires specialized care.

The RN has primary accountability for patient outcomes and accomplishes this by delegating, supervising and participates in patient care delivery. The RN coordinates care across all disciples, in collaboration with nursing peers, attending physicians and allied support services. The RN will function within the full scope of licensure, implement the nursing process to include the following: to assess patient and family needs; develop a plan of care based on assessment; coordinate and direct patient care in implementation of the plan of care; and, review and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care. The RN ensures the physiological, psychosocial, safety, learning, rehabilitative, spiritual, cultural and self-care needs of patients and their families are addressed.

All postings are open to internal candidates only for the first 7 days. Current California RN Licensure, BLS and NRP Certification required. Graduate of accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. Experience in area of Maternal Child nursing required. Experience in area of clinical specialty, level II or III nursery required. Must be able to demonstrate basic medical surgical nursing skills, basic competencies in the fundamentals of nursing and pharmacology are required. Ability to work with all levels of nursing personnel and assist them in a resource capacity. Demonstrate effective English written, reading and verbal communication skills required. Must also have basic math and computer skills.
