Hospice Care of the West is looking for an experienced Admissions Nurse Full Time, afternoons / evenings to work Thursday - Sunday. Hours will be determined upon interview and application status. Unique compensation package. POSITION SUMMARY: Oversees the in-patient/out-patient functions, bed assignments, and completion of preliminary paperwork for entering patients. Works with medical, nursing, and accounting staff to ensure appropriate patient placement. Confirms that all insurance benefits coverage meets standards of admission as dictated by policy. Ensures compliance with applicable standards. FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBLITIES: 1. Addresses inquiries and requests for hospice information. 2. Ensures information is kept confidential. 3. Coordinates patient care assignments to assign personnel according to qualifications and skill level. 4. Assist staff with observation, evaluation, and reporting to the physician the patient's physical and emotional condition and reaction to drugs and treatments. 5. Assist staff with interpretation of social and physical factors in the environment that affects patient care. 6. Conduct audits to ensure deficiencies have been corrected. 7. Responsible for notification of any changes in the patient's reimbursement status to the billing office. 8. Review all admission documents and coordinate paper flow process. 9. Coordinate professional nursing care to patients under physician supervision in accordance with the policies of the agency and the patient's care plan. 10. Participate in quality programs as assigned in meetings and in-services. 11. Demonstrates ability to manage several responsibilities simultaneously and meets productive standards of the organization. 12. Assignments are completed meeting quality standards such as accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness. 13. Demonstrates dependability by adhering to time frames, punctuality and attendance policies. 14. Takes initiative by seeking greater responsibility and following through appropriately. 15. Demonstrates ability to identify existing problems and communicate to their supervisor. 16. Adapts to changing situations well and handles difficult situations in a tactful manner. 17. Develops knowledge and skills applicable to their role and responsibilities on an on-going basis. 18. Complies with hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations, standards of practice, and established work rules. 19. Adheres to the highest standards of professional and personal conduct in the performance of his/her duties. 20. Other duties as assigned. CCAH

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Credentials: Current RN License within the State. Experience: Minimum one year of acute care experience preferred. Minimum of six months of management or supervisory experience preferred. Core Competencies Knowledge of hospice requirements including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance guidelines. Good communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others maintaining a positive attitude. Other: Valid Driver's License and auto insurance.
