Providence is calling a full time, Day shift Post Partum Registered Nurse to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance in Torrance, CA.

We are located within three miles of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, where residents enjoy an average temperature of 72 degrees and a smog-free beach environment

The Women's and Children's Health department offers a full range of educational classes and an inpatient obstetric unit that is one of the South Bay's most active with 2,722 births in 2013. For pre-birth care, the on-site Perinatal Center provides complete fetal diagnostic testing and genetic counseling. We are the first hospital in Los Angeles to provide single room NICU units which includes an on-site neonatologist 24 hours a day. Our 20-room unit is capable of accommodating multiples and also includes a specialized procedure room.

In this position you will:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides and supervises professional, independent nursing care for Providence patients, that is as evidence-based as possible.

Care is based in the nursing process and is consistent with the California Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards, and the ANA Code of Ethics.

The RN applies knowledge of assessing, planning, ordering, giving, delegating, teaching and supervising professional nursing care delivery that promotes patients' optimal health and independence.

All Providence professional nursing practice requires a broad range of general nursing knowledge and expertise. In addition, development and validation of knowledge and skills essential to the assigned department, patient population and/or practice area are crucial.

The RN participates in and leads clinical teams and may supervise, assign or delegate to licensed vocational nurses (LVN), unlicensed assistive personnel and other caregivers. The RN performs all duties in a manner that promotes effective team functioning and reflects the Sisters of Providence and Little Company of Mary mission and philosophy and the Nurse's Bill of Rights.

Required qualifications for this position include:

Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire; American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider. If applicant has certification by the American Red Cross-CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, this will be accepted until card expiration date.

Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing strongly preferred

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Association

1 years of RN experience in Post Partum
