We are looking for dynamic individuals who are interested in working w/in a health care environment w/ an emphasis on technology.

As part of a team under close supervision, Interns will assist in performing a variety of developmental assignments & learn new business tools. In addition, you will participate in enrichment activities for your professional development. KP has a wealth of online, self-paced learning available in all areas of Enterprise IT systems, management methodologies, & application development. Many opportunities will be available to take advantage of not only online material, but to gain real-world knowledge from experts in IT management, process automation, information management & business intelligence. At the end of the Internship, the intern would have learned about the various activities involved in project management & business analysis.

Essential Functions

Technology driven health care is at the core of Kaiser Permanente's strategy. Our number one priority in IT Communications is to ensure that 6,000 IT employees know and believe how they help Kaiser Permanente make a measurable impact on the health of the communities we serve, and for consumers of technology throughout the program to understand the value of IT. We are a team of strategic communication professionals providing internal communication, executive communication and project communication services. As strategic advisors, planners, project managers, writers and designers, we form a cohesive team focused on getting the right message, through the right medium, to the right audience, at the right time and with the right effect. You see us in action with programs like Computerworld's Best Places to Work, the IT annual report, keynote speeches at the World Congress, Message Matters: How Kaiser Permanente Communicates workshops and numerous large, complex technology initiatives.

Employee communication vehicles: partnering with the Production Team, Communications Managers, and development teams, identify opportunities to improve how we communicate with different employee segments (e.g., by device, by persona) across the organization. Benchmark how new technology and vehicles are being used for employee communications by collecting information from industry associations, consulting partners and other Bay Area companies' corporate communication departments

Special projects: as part of the Production team, participate on multiple project teams that improve the overall operations of IT Communications (e.g., mobile apps testing and research, workflow improvements)

Audience analysis and research: assist in research efforts to understand the impact and effectiveness of how IT communicates with employees (design research surveys, complete data collection and analysis, and make recommendations for improvement)

Web publishing and content management: review the results of a recent content audit of the IT website. Work with communication managers to update pages that require revision; remove and archive obsolete content; and update audit report.

Basic Qualifications

Currently Enrolled in an Accredited 4-year University Program (BA/BS)

3.25 GPA or higher

Academic students seeking professional training within a business corporate environment Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Interested in learning about leadership and information technology

Project Management desire or experience. Organized, articulate, personable. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Student should be in a Journalism and Communications
