Providence is calling a Clinic Nurse LPN to Providence Behavioral Medical Group in Palmer, Alaska The Clinic Nurse LPN will assist in providing professional nursing care in a medical office using a multidisciplinary approach.

In this position you will:

Assist in preparing patients for physician or healthcare provider encounters including taking vital signs as indicated, and preparing appropriate instruments for examination or procedure.

Perform patient follow-up including notifying patients of laboratory results, scheduling referral appointments, maintaining charts and records, and responding to patient telephone calls.

Maintain tracking systems to ensure compliance with medical guidelines and health maintenance standards.

Assist physicians and other healthcare providers in procedures, such as, minor surgery, sigmodoscopy, biopsy, colonoscopy, IUD insertion, orthopedic casting, treadmill, and stress testing.

Perform nursing procedures such as EKG, spirometry, ear lavage, injections, dressing changes, urinary catheterizations, finger stick blood glucose testing, tympanograms and audiograms under the supervision of physician or other healthcare provider.

Assist in educating patients in a wide variety of health care subjects such as maternal/child healthcare, nutrition and life style issues, sexually transmitted diseases, basic health care maintenance, and self-administration of medications.

Perform nursing visits under supervision of physicians including blood pressure screenings, diabetic teaching, a newborn weight checks.

Perform support duties such as sterilizing and wrapping instruments, stocking and cleaning exam rooms and treatment rooms, facilitating physician correspondence, obtaining consents for treatment, and reviewing medication cupboards for outdated medications.

Required qualifications for this position include:

Graduation from an accredited school as an LPN

Licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Alaska

One (1) year of professional nursing experience

Variable schedule to meet department needs

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Prior clinic or outpatient experience

Knowledgeable of the uses and effects of medications, medical terminology and medical equipment
