Sodexo is currently seeking a Executive Chef to join our healthcare Food Service team at our Memorial Hermann Orthopedic Hospital located minutes from Houston's trendy Galleria area in Houston, TX. The Chef will report directly to the General Manager.

This position is responsible for managing daily operations of a 130 bed census hospital. This includes patient feeding and a retail cafe. The Chef Manager is also responsible for food purchasing, food production (including patient food, cafeteria, catering, and physicians dining), and the ware wash area. The Chef Manager is directly responsible for managing and scheduling of the food production employees. Oversees total food production operation in the absence of the Food & Nutrition Services Director.

Seeking individuals with a culinary leadership background to assist in leading the food service team. The Chef manager will ensure patient room service meals, cafe selections, physicians lounge menu, and catering events are of the highest quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary or kitchen production background, preferably in a healthcare environment as well as previous management experience and excellent leadership and communication skills. Candidates must have the ability to effectively prioritize the workload, strict attention to detail a passion for customer service, customer satisfaction, and a commitment to quality. The ideal candidate will be ServSafe certified and have a working knowledge of HACCP and have experience with Health and Safety audits.

This position will provide the applicant with an outstanding platform for future growth in culinary management with Sodexo.

Position Summary

Designs, supervises, coordinates and participates in activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel in a medium to large account. This position is recognized as the technical expert, teacher and trainer for other chefs and cooks within the account. Selects and develops recipes and other items for clients. Develops menu, implements and trains HACCP, oversees/purchases food, establishes production levels and inventory controls, interviews and hires new chefs, manages/controls food cost issues and offer solutions, may train other chefs outside account. May cook selected items, and plan or price menus. Typically has chefs and cooks reporting to this position.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree

Basic Management Experience - 2 years

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Sodexo will require a background check and may require a drug screen for this position.
