1-8 years of experience with utilities (utility engineering)
1-3 years of CYME experience
B.S Electrical Engineering Degree
B.S Electrical Engineering Technology
Must have a 4 year credited Degree (ABET)
Distribution engineering or Station/P&C experience preferred.

Should have experience/responsibility required for working with software programs which have the capabilities of operating devices on the distribution system. Individuals shall maintain a proactive mindset geared towards reducing the risk of device operations for mis-mapped points and mis-configured logic.

Familiarity with SCADA systems, including, but not limited to: RTUs, front-end processors, communications interfaces, and DMS interfaces is a plus.

Should be familiar with common communications languages required for SCADA system interaction, specifically DNP and IP based networking.

Candidates should be familiar with distribution level overcurrent coordination required for interfacing the local protection of recloser controls with the automatic circuit reconfiguration principles of Distribution Automation (DA).

Experience with distribution operation principles, including switching/tagging procedures, overload conditions, load shed principles, and mis-operations is a plus.

Should be proficient at leading teams (via phone or radio) consisting of employees from multiple departments (field, DMS, DDC, etc.) to ensure that systems are commissioned safely, efficiently, and properly.


Core Level duties

Be engaged as required with Volt Var Optimization (VVO) control system deployments, Distribution Automation Circuit Reconfiguration (DACR) deployments and other Smart Circuit efforts on the distribution system.

Work with various vendors to develop and load configuration files in controllers/remote terminal units for VVO, DACR and other Smart Grid Applications on the distribution system.

Develop Point to Point (PtP) testing plans and lead field and office personnel in the field testing.

Develop System Acceptance Tests (SAT) plans and lead field and office personnel in the field testing.

Following field deployment of Smart Grid systems, provide performance analysis of benefits gained and facilitate vendor product enhancements.

Assist with the specification development and implementation of emerging SMART Grid technologies within the AEP distribution system.

Help develop station and line equipment standards associated with new Smart Grid technologies.

Complete written technical performance reports and
make periodic presentations to management, OpCo, and/or teams concerning project status, budget, and performance.
