POSITION PURPOSE

The Lead Systems Specialist works in a 24x7x365 data center environment maintaining and supporting CA-Endevor. They will administer over 100,000 application library elements for source code, load modules, copylibs, listing files, procs, and JCL for every life cycle. They will manage approximately 2000 annual source code promotions. The Lead will purge and archive old modules from lower life cycles as well as refresh and reload JCL and PARMS. They will coordinate all CA-Endevor enhancements, upgrades and installations.

They will be able to receive escalations from Level 1 and Level 2 associates and provide technical resolutions while driving root cause analysis and the creation of “no repeat” plans. This resource will also escalate business impacting incidents according to documented escalation guidelines. The Lead will be responsible for maintaining 99.95% availability of Large Systems production technology infrastructure, driving 99.9% on-time delivery of project elements, reducing Large Systems technology related incidents / unplanned downtime, and delivering scheduled technology and process enhancements according to plan.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Assesses financial effect of wiring, staging and installation costs, new equipment purchases, and project changes. Ensures proper asset management for all items being installed and uninstalled. Oversees the computer maintenance expense line on store profit and loss statements to ensure that expenses are charged appropriately in accordance with GAAP and Home Depot policies. Reviews monthly profit and loss statements for IS department and analyzes expenditures vis-a-vis their budget. Conducts post project reviews to determine financial and operational success. Selects, develops, and motivates assigned staff.

Typically reports to an IS Controller. Direct reports typically include one or more Senior Systems Specialists, Systems Specialists and Associate System Specialists. Typically requires interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations. Typically procedures for analyzing situations and making conclusions are very diverse. Typically considers among many different options or procedures when solving problems. Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION REQUIRED

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Subject matter expert in MVS, z/OS, CA-ARzOS (Data Repository for zOS), COBOL, Assembler, DB2 and CA-Endevor

Proficient in Support Development Tools (JCLCheck, Eztrieve, Quickref, REXX, ISPF,CLIST)

Familiar with other development tools (Fault Analyzer, Debug Tools, APA, FileManager, Catalog Solutions)

Proficient in the use of service management systems (incident, problem, change, asset) incident ticketing systems (ServiceNow preferred)

Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows OS

Able to direct the work of peers, L1 and L2 in order to meet team objectives

Able to independently work with Engineering and Application support teams to meet departmental objectives

Proactively identify initiatives that will make IT Operations more efficient, document them, present them to Management for approval, and implement them will little or no direction

Create and deliver training modules (including documentation, syllabi, presentations and other necessary components)

Interface with the user community to coordinate changes; schedule and gain approval for RFC’s

Review, create and publish support documentation

Manage the on-time delivery of medium-size to large projects

Deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced, delivery-oriented department

Given broad goals, create a plan and implement to completion giving timely updates to management and other interested parties

Demonstrate executive level presentation skills

Remain current with technology in Large Systems space; able to contribute to conversations surrounding futures

Provide expert support of technology as member of on-call rotations

Demonstrate proactive, consistent open communication with management

Monitor general team activities and drive to on-time high quality completions

Mentor peers and L1 and L2 associates

Five to eight years of experience in an enterprise class data center
