Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing the payroll for our client's employees. The Payroll Specialist will verify, monitor and process payroll data for new hires and existing employees and utilize various reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with payroll policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Utilize PeopleSoft to enter employee data for newly hired and existing employees.
- Conduct on-cycle and off-cycle payroll processing.
- Research and resolve through auditing all weekly payroll tax and wage balance discrepancies by performing applicable adjustments in a timely manner.
- Manage PTO and Oasis reporting and approvlas on a weekly basis.
- Coordination and processing payment for all FMLA claims including resolution of all discrepancies.
- Resolve employee correspondence.
- Communicate payroll and tax policies and procedures to office personnel and employees.
- Provide accurate and timely paychecks to our employees.
- Work closely with team members to ensure that all tasks are completed timely and accurately.
- Develop value added procedures for departmental improvements and update policies and procedures as needed.
Work Environment
- The Payroll Specialist works out of our client's corporate headquarters.
- This person will be sitting with the team where they have a total of over 1,500 employees total in the company.
- Professional office environment; busy office.
- A lot of paperwork coming in and out of the department.
- They handle over 250 offices in North America.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of Payroll experience required.
- PeopleSoft skills required.
- Payroll for 500-1,500+ employees required.
- Deadline and detail oriented.
- Positive attitude.
- Strong work ethic.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer Skills: PeopleSoft, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
Performance Expectations
- **There is a good chance that this can go permanent for the right person!**
- They will be interviewing to find someone permanently, so this candidate can try and win the job while on contract!
- They are expected to be on time each and every day. Attendance is HUGE with our client.
- Need to keep up with high volume.
- They are always updating their software and onboarding a new automation system that is being rolled out in phases, so much be willing to learn the new system/electronic filing.
Interview Information
- They will interview with a Sr. Recruiter, Payroll Manager, and Financial Reporting Manager. Decision to be made immediately afterward!
- This will definitely be a BEHAVIORAL interview.

Additional Compensation
- Permanent pay is usually $40k...they can go up to $22/hour but beyond that they would need to evaluate the employee.

- Disqualifiers - No PeopleSoft experience in the last 2 years, Bad attitude, Not willing to roll up sleeves and help out HR in other capacities, etc.
- They need someone that can work without someone looking over their shoulder.
