Aerotek is working with a client to recruit for a Quality Inspector.

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for establishing quality standards. Institutes methods and procedures for inspection, testing, and supplier evaluations. Performs inspections of the company's products at the manufacturing plant, as well as supplier site inspections as required.

DIMENSIONS: Under the direction of the Quality Manager, interacts with other Quality Department employees, all manufacturing plant employees, various other departments, customers, and suppliers.

NATURE AND SCOPE: To perform inspections accurately and timely, ensuring that a quality product is manufactured according to customer specifications before the product is shipped to the customer.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Establishes and maintains test inspection criteria for all products.
2. Participates in supplier selection based on manufacturing capabilities.
3. Conducts quality system audits at supplier facilities.
4. Conducts in-process inspections at the company's manufacturing plant and/or supplier facilities as required, and approve products that are shipping directly from our Supplier to our Customer per P.O. instructions and certified drawings.
5. Performs final pre-shipment test and inspection of variousdirect and indirect products, frequently involving programming and the use of a CMM (coordinate measuring machine), as well as creating CMM inspection programs/models for products with high volume inspection requirements.
6. Participates in design reviews.
7. Develops and maintains Product Quality Specifications, including assisting our suppliers in understanding specifications and requirements that are unique to the company's products.
8. Establishes in-process inspection points and identifies special fixtures, jigs, and inspection equipment unique for our products, including identification of when and where the instruments are needed.
9. Administer Discrepant Material Reports (DMRs) and deviation processes.
10. Assists in the resolution of warranty claims.
11. Abides by all company policies with emphasis on attendance and safety.
12. Strives to meet or exceed customer expectations and strives for continuous improvement in the daily processes of conducting business.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Anything over 50 lbs. requires two people or the use of a lifting device. When visiting suppliers and/or customer facilities, or while working in our manufacturing facility, must be able to move around the shop floor and negotiate ramps and uneven floor surfaces with exposure to a typical shop environment; i.e. extreme heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes, and other elements. Must be capable of hearing or have an awareness of the operation of forklifts and cranes moving throughout the manufacturing facility. Must also be able to work in typical office conditions, to negotiate office steps, and to sit for long periods of time for computer work. Must be able to stoop, kneel, or bend to perform inspections or to file or pull files/records. Travel may be involved, requiring the ability to negotiate typical airport obstacles. Must have good vision and manual dexterity. Must wear required personal protective equipment in manufacturing facility, as well as when visiting supplier and customer facilities as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have broad knowledge and experience in fabrication, machining, and assembly, with a high degree of technical capability and at least 10 years of inspection experience. Experience working under a QMS/ISO 9001 business quality system is required. Must be proficient in using all required test and inspection equipment needed to evaluate products. Individual must be a self-starter who can work within established guidelines, taking initiative to conduct inspections as expected. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work with all levels of an organization, and the ability to interface with customers and suppliers professionally. Must have personality traits that would enable the employee to function appropriately with customers and suppliers under adverse conditions. Must present a courteous/professional attitude and appearance at all times. Must be organized, efficient, accurate, and responsive to all requests. Must also be dependable, self-motivated, and a problem solver. A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ERP system experience is required, along with CMM experience.
