Hours: Part Time 6:30am-3:00pm

Job Responsibilities:

Pick up used/contaminated equipment, trays, instruments and carts from appropriate area including operating room at designated times and processes for appropriate decontamination/sterilization, use or storage.

Restocks implant trays preparing lists of implants to be re-ordered, restocks items returned from OR and retrieves supplies from stockroom and restocks shelves, removing outdated items.

Inspects all instruments for cleanliness and condition, removing defective items

Assembles and/or restocks all trays, kits and packs pursuant to department policy and procedures and priority level verifying that they have been properly wrapped and labeled.

Operates sterilizers, washers and other processing equipment in accordance with department policy, maintaining accurate and detailed sterilization records.

Responds within two rings to all calls from OR, filling requests immediately.

Prepares case carts for all surgical procedures following established procedures.

Maintains all equipment and emergency case carts in a clean and functional condition

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved Central Service Technician training course program

Certification from CBSPD or IAHCSSM

2 years' experience in a central service department and/or related healthcare field required

Membership in the International Association of Hospital Central Service Material Management(IAHCSMM) or the American Society of Healthcare Central Service Professionals (ASHCSP) required

Ability to lead one or more employees performing similar work

Administrative skills

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Ability to use various instruments, machines, tools, equipment and work aids as necessary toperform job duties.
