Overview

The Nursing Director works to ascertain that nursing care given to patients within the hospital is in accordance with physician's orders and in conformity with nursing, JCAHO and Medicare standards and current OSDH rules and regulations. This position is responsible for assuring standards of nursing practice and standards of patient care are consistently implemented throughout areas of responsibility. They act as a liaison between the Vice President of Nursing and other hospital executives communicating policies related to the hospital and their role. They promote a positive working environment and motivate their staff to perform to the best of their abilities. They will perform all work with accord to the mission, vision and values of Mercy Hospital Ada. The Mercy Hospital Ada staff member can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric, and pediatric patients from newborn through adolescent.

Organizes the departments and areas of responsibility and establish the responsibility and accountability for patient care and personnel.

Actively participates with other department leaders to assure the integration of the departmental services with the organization's primary functions.

Recommend and operate with an annual budget to meet the needs and objectives of areas of responsibility.

Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs that promotes the recruitment, retention, development and education of nursing staff.

Participates with other key personnel, medical staff and hospital staff in planning and managing process to measure, assess and improve the quality of clinical and support activities.

Participates in community and professional activities to enhance personal and professional growth.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Education: BSN in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.

Licensure: Licensed in State of Oklahoma as RN

Experience: Five years nurse management experience

Certifications: Obtain national certification in area of expertise

Other: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledgable of microsoft applications, good time management skills and ability to prioritize work. Positive role model and understanding of customer relations.

Preferred Education: Prefer Master's degree in Nursing, Health Administration or Business
