SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: You may be required to provide your Social Security Number to conduct required verifications. This position requires a valid Class "B" driver's license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:

three (3) or more moving violations in the past 3 years that accumulate 3 or more points per violation;

any 2 convictions of reckless driving in the past 3 years;

a suspension or revocation of the driver's license for moving violations in the past 3 years; and

a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction in the past 4 years

Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver's license confirmed. A mandatory drug screening will be performed on the successful applicant.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Assists with performing routine maintenance and repairs on all types of electrical services, including highway lighting, buildings, rest area facilities, sewage treatment plants, et cetera. Operates utility van and bucket truck in performance of these duties.

Assists the plumber making repairs and installation of pipe, commodes, urinals, faucets and all other plumbing hardware in all Departmental facilities.

Assists with performing a variety of block, brick, concrete and carpentry repairs and constructs new buildings as required.

Performs minimal repairs to heating and air conditioning equipment.

Estimates quantities and provides the required purchasing documents for material and equipment.

Perform minor operational maintenance and ensures that the proper periodic preventative maintenance schedule is performed in a timely manner and that equipment is kept in good working order by coordinating with the local automotive shop.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of electricity, plumbing and building construction. Skill to perform repairs adhering to applicable codes. Skill to read blueprints and schematic drawings. Skill to estimate quantities and provide required purchasing documents for materials. Ability to make electrical, plumbing and building repairs.
