Sommelier

We invite you to participate in something truly unique and special as we plan the opening of a new restaurant and bar concept.  Montage Beverly Hills has partnered with acclaimed chef Geoffrey Zakarian to introduce Georgie which will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner along with The Garden Bar, a sophisticated yet relaxed lounge with a robust cocktail program and all day fare, both scheduled to open in June 2016. 



Summary



• Work on the floor with guests and staff to promote wine and beverage sales.



• Work with the restaurant management and Montage wine team to create and maintain wine program.



• Maintain efficient control systems for wine list, inventories and par stock.



• Work with restaurant management to oversee beverage costs and pricing.



• Work with the restaurant management and staff to maintain the best possible wine education and staff training program.



• Attend wine and beverage tastings and seminars as available.



• Work with the F&B Management team in the capacity Restaurant Supervisor as required.



Qualifications



• Previous work experience as a Sommelier, Assistant Manager Beverage or Wine Manager.



• Excellent customer service skills.



• Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.



• Food Handlers Card



• Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.



• High school diploma or equivalent.



• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.    



• Able to demonstrate outstanding wine knowledge, sales ability and training ability.



• Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.



Physical Requirements



Position requires walking and standing most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
