This position is the Regional Controller for the following businesses located in NY and CT:

ProHEALTHcare in New York employs 600+ physicians providing primary care, specialty care, urgent care, ambulatory surgery services and anesthesia services to over 900,000 commercial and Medicare patients across Long Island, NY. The company is headquartered in Lake Success, NY.
 
ProHealth Physicians, Inc. in Connecticut employs 240 physicians, including 227 PCPs, who provide primary care, specialist care, and ancillary services to approximately 345,000 patients throughout Connecticut. The company is headquartered in Farmington, CT.

Primary Responsibilities:


Manage the regional monthly close process, including pre-close reporting

Monitor balance sheet accounts for accuracy and completeness via the account reconciliation process

Monitor and proactively track risks and opportunities associated with assigned businesses, as needed

Provide appropriate financial statement and / or audit oversight for assigned businesses

Provide operational and technical accounting expertise to ensure compliance with GAAP, Company policies, and various applicable rules and regulations

Support the statutory reporting process, providing related audit support and issue resolution as needed

Maintain and support financial internal control environment for assigned businesses

Support the Company's strategic and operational planning initiatives, as applicable

Mentor and assist staff in driving known issues in assigned businesses to resolution

Monitor membership/eligibility reporting and reconciliation processes

Liaise with OptumCare and Care Delivery Finance, local and regional executive management, as needed

Collaborate with other functional areas within OptumCare: Care Delivery FP&A, HealthCare Economics, Actuarial/Reserving, Financial Data Management, General Operations

Collaborate with other functional areas within the broader UHG organization (e.g. Legal, Corporate Accounting, Accounting Policy, Capital Planning, Regulatory Reporting, Regulatory FP&A), as necessary

Collaborate with external and internal audit and ICFR teams during peak audit season and quarterly reviews, and as needed throughout the year
Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance and direction through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff
 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent field
8+ years of progressive work experience in accounting
5 or more years past management / supervisory experience
Strong technical knowledge of GAAP; ability to effectively use accounting knowledge to collaborate with varying levels of employees and senior management to drive sound business decisions
Demonstrates proficiency in practical application of internal control skills
Experience in the financial close process and general understanding of underlying complexities that sometimes exist
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated success partnering with, leading and influencing multiple teams responsible for complex operations
Ability to work in a matrix environment with a strong ability to positively influence other functional areas
Ability to effectively summarize and articulate financial results
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Intermediate MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive detailed data
Travel required – over 50% for approximately first 6 months – then approximately 25% thereafter
If based in NY or CT locations must be willing to relocate
Preferred Qualifications:

CPA / CMA or other equivalent licensure or certification
Big 4
MA integration experience
Healthcare industry experience
Core understanding of provider side revenue cycle management
