Experienced Mortgage Underwriter needed near Farmingdale, NY!
Must have experience as an underwriter for both FHA and Conventional loans!
Salary: $90k - $95k contingent upon experience
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the quality of underwriting of all loans to ensure all investor guidelines have been met and review all files prior to submitting to the investor.
- Ensure turnaround times set by the VP of Underwriting are met to the best of your ability.
- Analyze all loan packages for indications of fraud.
- Issue suspense notices for review by the VP of Underwriting and follow up on underwriting concerns letters.
- Review all VOE concerns with VP of Underwriting.
- Decide which loans are ready for submission to investor.
- Review suspended loans by the investor and obtain approval.
- Determine all conditions can be met and review all commitments prior to signing for accuracy.
- Work with post-closing on clearing conditions.
- Verify appraiser and closing attorney are approved with the investor of choice prior to sending the loan to the investor.
Requirements for the Underwriter position:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3+ years underwriting experience with thorough knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC and FHA/VA underwriting requirements
- Computer proficiency required, prior experience with Encompass needed
- Reverse mortgage knowledge a plus!
- Possess a CHUMS number
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong problem solving abilities
- Ability to work well in a fast paced environment
- Exceptional organizational skills, time management and prioritization skills
- Excellent documentation, organization and analytic skills
