Quality Packaging Industries (QPI) is a national company providing containerization and fulfillment services for non-food products, including shrink wrapping, corrugate design, POP displays, bagging, sampling, repacking, flow wrapping, blister packaging, collating, as well as transit and storage performance testing.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Machine Operator / Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to setup change overs, operate, and maintain production equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

  • Operation of production machines to feed necessary raw materials into equipment including but not limited to shrink wrapping equipment, case erector, semi automatic stretch wrappers and tape machines.
  • Control and adjust the functions and settings of machines
  • Inspect parts to ensure meet requirements
  • Machine Set Up – (calibration, cleaning, change overs, etc) per job needs and ensuring efficient operation for production needs and goals.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments during shift.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Instructs others in safe operation and use of production machines and plant facility equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year experience with production machines, mechanical equipment as Operator
  • Ability to become Forklift Certified [Certified Powered Industrial Truck Operator]
  • Effectively use a variety of hand and power tools, measuring devices (rulers, calipers, balances, meters) and other shop tools as required to perform required duties
  • Ability to work with little supervision and make responsible decisions
  • Must be able to work well with others and have excellent communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Must be detailed oriented with strong organizational skills and able to multi-task in a fast paced, production oriented environment
  • Must have computer experience, including with MS Office programs[Outlook, Excel and Word]
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime hours as necessary
  • Lift up to 40 pounds
  • Lift above shoulder level
  • Must be able to stand for 8 to 12 hours per day with adequate breaks.
  • Bending and stooping, with some twisting
  • Repetitive hand / arm motions
  • Must be able to tolerate fluctuating seasonal temperature conditions.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Pre-employment background and drug screening required.
  • Valid Drivers License with clean driving record
