REM Hennepin is seeking a Program Director to manage the day to day operations of new development located in New Hope, Mn. For REM Hennepin and The MENTOR Network, the Program Director is critical to our success and exemplifies the company's vision and the mission driven work we do here every day.


Position Summary:

This Program Director is responsible to supervise services on site for people supported within a community based setting:

  • REM Hennepin has partnered with the Minnesota Department of Human Services to participate in the Transitions to Community Initiative to develop unique discharge plans for individuals currently at the Minnesota Security Hospital (MSH) - St. Peter who are unable to be discharged due to individually-specific barriers.

Above all, this Program Director is responsible to protect and promote the health, safety, and well-being of the people served. In collaboration with the Area Director, this Program Director will support the opening of this new and innovative program and will work hard to increase the caseload to include others who are approved for discharge and ready to receive services. This will most likely include the opening and supervision of additional programs in the future.



Key Responsibilities:


The Program Director will oversee the operation of each site, including the areas of program management, financial management, physical plant, staff supervision and development, and maintaining individual, family, and county relations. Applicant must have great time-management and organizational skills. In addition to the management team with REM, this position will work closely with a large team that includes family members, case managers, consultants, medical providers and therapists. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of the criminal justice system, knowledge of various mental health disorders and experience working with difficult and/or dangerous behaviors.


Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Designated Coordinator recognition required [must meet (a) Or (b) Or (c) below]:
    • Associate degree in a field related to human services and two years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older; or
    • A diploma in a field related to human services from an accredited postsecondary institution and three years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older; or
    • A minimum of fifty hours of education and training related to human services and disabilities; And four years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older.
  • Four year degree specific to human or social services, criminal justice or psychology is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability in areas of leadership, personnel, employee training, and public relations.
  • Skilled in written and oral communication, community relations and service development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of behavior management principles, program development, and monitoring techniques with an emphasis with a MI & D diagnosis.
  • Eligible as determined by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Department of Human Services, and the Company’s Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets insurability requirements as defined by the Company’s insurance carrier.
