PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Responsible for first-line direction of non-exempt employees involved in production, assembly subassembly or fabrication operations. Reviews production schedules, material and manpower resources. Assigns employees to maximize production objectives, maintain quality and attain output requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary/major job responsibilities that will be performed by this job:
Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees. Responsible for leadership, staff performance, reviews, policy enforcement, disciplinary, work feedback.
Must be familiar with assembly line balancing, bottle neck identification, and time studies.
Must be able to lead and motivate a diverse work force of up to 30 employees.
Completes production plans by scheduling and assigning staff, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems and reporting results of shift production.
Maintain safe and clean work environment through personal demonstration, department audits and provide proper safety training.
Champion department Safety, Kaizen and 6S Programs and cost reduction.
Work cross-functionally with other departments to achieve performance goals.
Perform other duties as directed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The minimum education and experience required to successfully perform the essential functions. Preferred requirements can also be included in this section.
BS Degree, Experience and knowledge of industrial assembly, Demonstrate leadership and people skills, Good oral and written communication skills, Strong computer skills, Experience with Microsoft Office and Time and Attendance, Demonstrate problem solving and improvement skills, Must be able to read and follow blueprints, diagrams and schematics, demonstrate ability to develop departmental goals, set action plans, track status and present results.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Skills, abilities, or special licenses needed to perform the job (software, professional certifications, drivers’ license, languages, etc.)
Strong knowledge assembly design, parts and processes including: plastics, sheet metal brazing, molding and finishing
Knowledge of machinery and equipment
Ability to use hand and power tools
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of process improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma)
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
DECISION MAKING
Describe the level of decision making and extent that this job can structure objectives/activities and affect outcomes.
Generally works within established guidelines, processes, and procedures. May have limited ability to recommend/implement improvements to achieve team goals
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS
Manufacturing:
Works predominantly on the manufacturing floor. May be exposed to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, etc.
Climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing and ability to move material weighing up to 40 lbs
Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on tools and equipment
Ability to use of hand tools, power tools, gas torches and measuring instruments
Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment
Requires standing for prolonged periods of time
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
Must be able to walk and use hands
Ability to read, write, listen and speak
