The ideal candidate for this role will have strong technical and platform knowledge, including some or all of: Java (jdk 1.7 and 1.8)/JSE/JEE (JMS, JTA)/JSF/Angular JS, JBoss Application Server, SQL, Oracle, XML, XSLT, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, TCP/IP, HTTP, SOAP, REST, LDAP.
 
We utilize Java frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, Apache CXF and Document based NoSql (CouchDB, MongoDB).
 
Optum Technology is located at the heart of Raleigh's Midtown area in North Hills, at the 11th and 12th floors of a brand new high-rise building.
 
The space is designed to support and encourage the tenets of high functioning agile development teams. The space includes a variety of work environments and flexible work stations that will allow cross-functional teams to easily collaborate and innovate. We are leveraging what we learned from our existing agile locations, as well as industry benchmarking of progressive technology companies, to create a location that brings us into the future.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Design and develop reusable software modules that meet customer requirements while upholding high standards of reliability, security, maintainability, and performance - and all such key Non Functional Requirements (NFR)
Make accurate development effort estimates to assist management in project and resource planning
Participate in peer reviews for designs, code, and other work products
Facilitate QA engineers in quality engineering automation
Write technical documentation and document designs to be followed by other developers
Keep skills up to date through ongoing self-directed training
Advise management on how products and processes could be improved

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

3+ years of commercial development experience
Thorough understanding of agile software development methodology (Scrum) and industry best practices
Thorough understanding of fundamental software engineering and computer science principles: object-oriented design, structured design, databases, algorithms, data structures, usability, refactoring, debugging, and configuration management
Thorough understanding of service oriented architecture (SOA) concepts
Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Healthcare industry experience
Experience with Agile/SAFe methodology
Advanced degree in a technical field
Experience with complete software development life cycle
Experience with interfaces, API
Experience with HL7
Experience with web based, multi-tenant applications and user interfaces
Familiar with Continuous Integration and Delivery processes
