Reliable Power Plant Operator wanted for regional power plant. in this position, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the power plant and auxiliary equipment. You will be part of a four person crew with critical operational responsibilities.
Power Plant Operator - Principal Duties
- Start, stop and operate all power plant and related equipment, including but not limited to Boiler air and gas fans, boiler water and steam pumps, boiler fuel feed conveyors, ash removal collectors, emissions reduction fans, cooling and lubrication pumps for turbine, exciter and generator, and waste water treatment pumps.
- Periodically inspect equipment, systems and machinery
- Lubricate and adjust equipment, making minor repairs as needed
- Analyze water samples - Boiler, cooling and waste water - and adjust water chemistry as needed
- Identifies and reports malfunctions to plant maintenance for repairs
- Prepares machinery and equipment for maintenance
Minimum Requirements
- For Power Plant Operator Phase I, Rudimentary level knowledge of power plant systems and equipment is required. Up to 2 years experience. Bailey Net 90 experience a plus.
- For Power Plant Operator Phase 2, Advanced knowledge of power plant systems and equipment is required. Phase II Operators will have more than 2 years experience and have completed Phase training. Experience with Bailey Net 90 required for Phase 2.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working on a team in a collaborative environment
- Ability to respond calmly to emergency situations
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and ability to follow established safety rules
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills - General
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to perform the physical aspects of the job - Extreme temperatures, outdoor elements, lift heavy objects, sit or stand for extended periods, access and work at heights, heavy vibrations and loud noises
