Summary: Oversees the Public Relations and Communications efforts for Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic public relations plan.
- Manage all sources of public information, including rack brochures, park maps and guides, general press releases, the park website, social media, and other areas as assigned.
- Develop and maintain crisis management strategies and annual crisis management training.
- Develop and manage an active media database.
- Maintain photo archive and track news clips.
- Cultivate positive working relationships with working media.
- Develop and arrange press previews and conferences.
- Write and distribute press materials.
- Serve as the Park's spokesperson and to be on call 24-7.
- Pitch and solicit active positive media coverage of the park.
- Create and coordinate all broadcast and print publicity programs for the park.
- Assist in development of all marketing communications and work with park management to achieve overall park objectives.
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Skills and Qualifications
- Will be required to work various shifts as project and park needs dictate, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer literacy. Strong knowledge of all Microsoft applications.
- Must have the ability to stand, walk, crouch, bend, stoop, kneel and lift up to forty pounds occasionally.
- BA or BS degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of PR, Media Relations, or Marketing experience preferred.
- Excellent strategic and creative thinking capabilities; special events administrative/ development experience a plus.
- Media relations experience in the Washington, DC-Metropolitan area preferred.
- Theme park, entertainment or tourism related experience preferred, but not required.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with media and community leaders.
- Crisis management experience.
- Must be detail oriented and very organized.
- Friendly, outgoing and aggressive personality, along with excellent interpersonal skills. Professional appearance and presentation skills are necessary.
