Southeastern Properties and Development Company, founded in 2000, is a full service general contracting, project management and development company.  Southeastern’s primary business is light commercial construction.  It also is involved in luxury residential construction, land development and owns and manages residential, commercial and industrial rental properties.

We are seeking a bookkeeper to record all financial transactions, including purchases, sale, receipts and payments. You will post information to accounting journals/software and reconcile accounts to ensure their accuracy.

The primary responsibilities of the position will be:

  • Record day to day financial transactions (accounts payable/receivable) and complete the posting process in QuickBooks and AppFolio property management software.
  • Verify that transactions are recorded daily and bank accounts are reconciled monthly.
  • Work closely with President, Administrative Assistant and Property Manager to ensure transactions are coded and processed in a timely manner.
  • Process ADP payroll on bi-weekly basis.
  • Complete tax forms and work with outside tax accountants for annual tax returns and audits as necessary.
  • Enter data, maintain record, budgets and financial statements.
  • Process checks daily for payables/receivables including ACH and Remote Deposit Transfers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Dynamic, professional leader with

  • Proven bookkeeping experience and data entry skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Quickbooks required
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Familiarity with AppFolio or other property management software not a requirement but is preferred.  Training will be provided.
  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is a plus, but not required
  • Flexible attitude, willingness to work in a small office environment with interactions with clients, vendors and field personnel.  May require working one week per month in our Sanford office for property management processing of rental payments.
