Overview

The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the provision of nursing care for assigned patients in all phases of care. He/she is responsible for prescribing nursing interventions, and coordination of patient activities, and delegation of the aspects of are that are provided by others. The individual will demonstrate professional accountability through adherence to standards of nursing care and a commitment to act in an ethical manner. The RN provides care to patients ranging in age from pediatric to geriatrics. He/she will perform all duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Mercy Memorial Health Center.

Assesses the condition of patient and/or significant other in a timely, consistent and systematic manner.

Develops an outcome oriented plan of care that reflects the patient's actual or potential health problems.

Implements the plan of care to achieve the identified outcomes for the patient.

Evaluates effectiveness of service provided.

Demonstrates effective and accurate verbal, written and electronic communication skills.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based upon the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety needs, and other related criteria appropriate to the following age groups: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.

Participates and complies with unit/organizational activities, policies and procedures.

Demonstrates professional conduct and development.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Education: Is a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Continuing Education towards obtaining a Bachelors in Nursing (must be obtained within 4 years of hire).

Licensure: Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Oklahoma.

Experience:

Certifications: Current BLS through the American Heart Association required.

Wound Ostomy Nurse Certification should be obtained within 3 years of obtaining BSN.

Other: Successful completion of the hospital approved medication test. Demonstrates competency by successful completion of orientation competency assessment and verification form and department specific orientation within the first three months of employment.

Demonstrates professional conduct and development.

Able to learn and react quickly. Competent to make certain independent decisions concerning the quality and accuracy of the procedures performed. The RN functions autonomously and is responsible for the direction of the health care team and overall plan of care for the patient.

Must be able to engage in technical conversation involving discussion with physicians, nurses, patients, families/significant others and co-workers.

Preferred Education: Is a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.

Preferred Licensure: Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Oklahoma.

Preferred Experience:

Preferred Certifications: Current BLS through the American Heart Association required.
