Requirements
POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, sets up and operates manually controlled machines in skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, and repair and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Reads and interprets blueprints using computer
- Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements for each component according to the blue print
- Uses precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches, and a variety of cutting tools and equipment as needed in fabrication of components
- Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics and composites
- Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures, and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
- Recognizes, deploys, and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling
- Evaluates experimental procedures and recommends change for modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production
- Tracks parts and jobs in computer system
- Produces high quality products safely and hygienically as per company GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards
- Must follow machine-specific lock out tag out procedures
- Must follow all company safety rules at all times
NONESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on tool room machinery and equipment
SAFETY
- Must follow all Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) Hazard Assessment requirements
- Must follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedural requirements
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
- Must have a general knowledge of:
- Estimating time and materials for machine jobs
- Metals and the quality, machinability and uses of metals, alloys and other materials
- Machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance
- Design techniques and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans and drawings
- Must be able to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written
- Must have ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner
- Must possess basic mathematical computations with ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
- Must have ability to independently define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form as well as deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Must be able to practically apply blueprint design with end result in mind
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Three years of relative experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- CNC experience a plus
