Maintenance Engineer with Electro-Mechanical experience repairing PVD machines

Service Technician

Looking for opportunities with a global, industry leader? Oerlikon Balzers is the leading global supplier of PVD coatings and other surface technologies that significantly improve the performance of precision components as well as metalworking and plastics processing tools.

The Service Technician is responsible for repair and maintenance of all process related and building support equipment with main focus on Oerlikon Balzers PVD coating equipment. This includes performing advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics and calibration of coating vessels. The Service Technician will be responsible for providing training and support as well as completing special projects as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Minimize downtime through preventative maintenance procedures

• Trouble shoot, diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical failures of equipment

• Document all inspections, maintenance and repair work using reporting processes in Word, Excel, Access and Adobe

• Provide training and assistance to other employees on equipment operation and maintenance

• Manage supplies and spare parts inventory

  Minimum Qualifications Required:

• Associates degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Technology is preferred. Equivalent experience in vacuum technology may substitute

• 2-5 years experience with operation and maintenance of equipment

• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude for machinery and test equipment

• Strong proficiency reading schematics and blueprints

• Working knowledge of computers and electronics is required as well as proficiency working with MS Office (i.e., MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

• Good verbal, written, and oral communication skills are required

• Strong customer-focus, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills are required

• Must be willing to work over-time as required as well as travel 10% domestically and internationally if requested

• Willingness to respond to emergency service calls is required
