The positions open are Technical Writers.
- Maintenance: Mechanical related
- Troubleshooting: Electrical, Hydraulic, or Pneumatic related
The following description applies:
- Person is assigned to a project and given a series of tasks. (A task is defined as a single procedure showing how to perform maintenance or troubleshoot an issue.)
1. They will write and/or review technical manuals based on changes/revisions to the manual
- In order to make these revisions they must either (1) pull an existing drawings (for revisions) or (2) take pictures (for new parts) to update the changes
2. They will also hand write out how the changes, maintenance or troubleshooting, will take place.
- Once the steps are put into place the writer will hand the information over to the Illustrator to put the graphics together based on the steps they've written
- The Illustrator will then hand the steps with graphics back for the writer to perform final review
We have hired a variety of people into these roles and they can come from different backgrounds. Two ends of the spectrum:
1) Ideal candidate has a strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic background; has the ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written; and doesn't have an issue working at a desk 60-70% of their day
2) The other candidate we can look at is someone that has a strong technical writing, publishing, editing background and some sort of mechanical aptitude or interest with the ability to pick up on the mechanical aspect
Mechanical skills are the general skill set we're looking for. the candidite must be WANT to sitting at a computer a good protion of the day.
