POSITION PURPOSE

As a Lead Network Engineer you will be responsible for leading a team in the research, design, implementation and the lifecycle management for network technologies relating to the Data Center network and assigned project/business initiatives. This position will specifically be responsible for delivering Strategic Projects, which include will include Software Defined Networks (SDN)/Orchestration and Network Automation, Proofs of Concept, Security Hardening and leading the technical portion of IT procurements.
Lead the design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet internal project deliverables
Deliver conceptual, logical, and physical solution specifications
Work closely with business and IT partners to gather business requirements for projects supporting their business initiatives to determine appropriate system solutions.
Provide input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation.
Research, identify, test, certify, and select technology products required for solution delivery.
Establish and implement technology migration strategies for a specific application or architecture within an IT portfolio.
Lead technology review meetings and ensure appropriate governance processes are followed.




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in related field. 
  • 10+ years’ experience in Network Engineering role, and specificially in Network Automation Orchestration. This includes experience in some or all of the following: Server provisioning tools (Puppet/Chef/Ansible/Netconf), Python language support for Netconf and EZ-API.
  • Technical proficiency in one or more of the following: routing (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VSAT, SSL/IPSECVPN, LTE - Juniper & Cisco routers), Layer 2 and 3 switching (Cisco Nexus 9K, 7K, 5K, 2K and Juniper products), Load Balancing (Citrix Netscaler preferred), Application Health Monitoring, Network optimization and Analysis, firewall experience with Juniper and Palo Alto. Understanding of systems, applications, and integration with networks so that practical solutions can be provided that factor system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability, and overall cost to develop and maintain.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Technical skills may also include experience with one or more of the following: Opnet, wireshark, network infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, SSL/TLS,SFTP, TACACS, RADIUS), retail applications, Windows platforms, LINUX platforms, VMare, security appliances/applications such as proxies, URL filtering, IDS/IPS, and NAC-802.1X.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Maintain and support networking hardware and software mainframe network, including evaluate, develop, and recommend specific network technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements. Develop solutions and implementing changes as necessary.
Assess business and technology initiatives, providing consultation, technical support, and recommendations to optimally utilize the enterprise network infrastructure.
Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery, creating preventative measures to deploy in the enterprise
Research and design reference models to standardize network architecture and manage network life-cycle planning.
Provide expert technical direction and mentoring to Sr. Network, Network Engineer, Associate Network Engineers and contractors.


NATURE AND SCOPE

Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology
No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
