As a Maintenance Mechanic in the Maintenance Department reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for providing support for the daily execution of the maintenance department's operating plan. Working with the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Technicians, Operations, and Safety, Mechanics support department productivity and quality of workmanship for the purpose of increasing overall availability and reliability of equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
· Supporting plans to reduce breakdowns, improve planned maintenance, optimize scheduled maintenance, and effectively execute down-day events;
· Maintaining the facility in a safe manner and to a standard level of equipment availability;
· Participating in the wash up day planning, half-time, and follow-up meetings;
· Incorporating plant delay items into weekly wash ups;
· Maintaining close contact with Maintenance Supervisor to ensure maintenance activities occur with minimal disruption to production operations;
· Recommending improvement in maintenance and operational procedures; and
· Capturing and recording necessary equipment and material history;
· Working with storeroom personnel to order replacement parts.
Maintain and repair equipment and machinery used in the manufacturing of fiber cement siding including:

* Responsible for maintaining machines and making timely repairs to minimize down time.
* Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical components and high-speed production equipment, including conveyors systems, motor replacement, hydraulic systems, limit switches, pneumatic systems, forklifts, boilers, autoclaves, water plants, photo eyes, pumps, proximity sensors, motors, gearboxes, and powerflex drives.
* Perform fabricating and welding as required to maintain machines.
* Basic knowledge of PLC controllers
* Perform preventive maintenance and replacement of worn parts on scheduled down days, including pump rebuilds, bearings, rollers, conveyor replacements and other scheduled preventative maintenance
* Duties included the rebuild and reseal of plant pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, and ultra high-pressure intensifiers.
* Troubleshoot and repair process equipment including dense phase conveyers and diverters, autoclaves, ball mills, refiners, belt conveyers, and boilers.
* Manufacture needed parts using machine shop equipment and hand tools.
* Provide mechanical support for production process by drawing new equipment blueprints, and writing up new PM inspections for sheet machines.

Environment: Indoor and outdoor, covered and exposed industrial manufacturing facility. Manufacturing construction material or other material.

Qualifications: REQUIRED

  • 3 or more years maintenance experience in a continuous operating (24/7) manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work a rotating 12 hour shift.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical technical knowledge.
  • Experience with Stick welding, rebuilding pumps, troubleshooting, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Experience working with a CMMS
