us and start doing your life’s best work.Spectera Vision Laboratory is an optical manufacturing facility. We are a union organization and are hiring for our 2nd shift. We are looking for candidates who would like to learn a unique trade and possesses a great teamwork mentality. The Optical Process Technician is responsible for all Surfacing Tech I & II roles, including tray up, blocking, de-block, wash up, hard coat, and hard lap machinery operations. This position works cooperatively with other technicians and departments to ensure compliance with all product, quality, and safety standards. The successful Surfacing Tech II will participate in the team environment to ensure adequate workflow throughout the internal customer supply chain, satisfying all productivity quotas.Positions in this function support the vision operations (retail vision stores, production lab) of the business. Only employees who are represented by a Union should be in this function.Primary Responsibilities: Prepare lenses for the Surface automation and blocking processes (tray up, also called de-box).Operate taping machinery, both manual and automated, to provide protection of lens surfaces (tray up, also called de-box).Evaluation of proper materials for processing prior to acceptance into the Surface Department (tray up, also called de-box).Operation of de-blocking equipment, both manual and automated, for removal of lens carriers (de-block)Prepare lenses for cutting and polishing processes by affixing lens carrier (blocking).Clean and inspect lenses for compliance to cosmetic quality standards (wash up). Identify process defects and communicate findings with automation technicians and/or department leadership (wash up).Apply polymer sealant (hard coat) to appropriate lens materials.Process orders throughout the hard lap process. Duties to include generator operation, tool selection/replacement, and fining/polishing equipment operation.Document work transactions and completed activities on approved forms.Participate in all Lean Manufacturing initiatives and daily routines.Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GEDAbility to navigate a PC environment and utilize Microsoft Office for basic tasks in a professional settingWorking hours 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm Monday through Friday and overtime as needed Must have 20/20 vision with or without corrective
eye wear
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical School or Associate's DegreeExperience working in a facility that follows the ISO 9001 standardsExperience generating charts and reports using excel2+ years of Production experience
