Our client, the global leader in firearms manufacturing, is looking for a Design Engineer to join their team in Savannah, GA for a long-term opportunity.

Job Summary:
The Design Engineer will be responsible for the administrative functions outlined below for the Engineering Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Actively lead and participate in Engineering Departments projects from concept to product availability.
  • Responsible for CAD and product data management.
  • Ability to lead and complete design projects in a timely manner ensuring completion of deadlines and ensuring design requirements are achieved.
  • Delegate drawing /design tasks to other members of design team.
  • Ability to work closely with Vendors (Request quotes, Collaborate on designs, etc).
  • Present projects to Engineering Manager and Engineering Department, and Senior Company Executives
  • Perform root cause analysis of issues on the shop floor from a Design aspect.
  • Provide guidance to engineering department regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best.
  • Help to develop instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job, and mentor junior Design Engineers.
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by the Engineering Manager and/or management.


Work Environment:

Schedule is 8-5, Mon-Fri. Some OT or weekend work on an as-needed basis. Office space surrounds the plant. Air conditioned plant, very clean.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree with concentration in a related area; 5+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field.
  • Has strong experience in using GD&T and FEA
  • Has knowledge of Firearms, preferably AR 15s
  • Teamwork and the ability to cooperate and work proactively with others is a must.
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in SolidWorks, specifically its 3D element.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to work, interact and effectively communicate with all company officials, employees, vendors, customers, etc.
