Overview:

Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Manager - Contracts who has demonstrated leadership skills and is well versed in drafting and administering a broad variety of contracts and other agreements for government, commercial and international customers and partners. This position will be located at our facility in Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area).

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):

30% - Provide technical and procedural leadership to accomplish organizational goals and commitments. Uses supervisory and administrative skills to select, appraise, motivate and develop subordinates.

 

30% - Hands-on administration and management of contract requirements, changes, terms and conditions, correspondences and various strategic and collaborative agreements. Entry and maintenance of contractual information in the enterprise operating system. Draft various agreements subject to legal review such as MOUs, Teaming Agreements, License Agreements, Representation Agreements, etc.

 

20% - Proposal preparation, fact-finding, negotiations of complex, development and production programs.

 

20% - Invoice collections, program reviews, accounting memos, miscellaneous duties.

Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and fourteen (14) years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have demonstrated leadership experience and skills, including the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and control the activities of the responsible organization. Ability to provide leadership, guidance and control to the assigned programmatic jurisdiction. The successful applicant must have the ability to work effectively with a wide diversity of people and willingness and ability to travel as needed.

 

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of government contract types, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of contracting principles, practices, rules, regulations and procedures of government/defense contracting.
  • Contract negotiation techniques.
  • Contract tracking and management systems.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and its agency supplements.
  • Ability to provide effective direction, leadership and team building.

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and delegate work assignments.

  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of management and individual contributors.

  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Develop goals, objectives and standards for a work unit.

  • Write policies and procedures, prepare complex reports and recommendations.

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
