About this job

This position reports to the Quality Assurance Director and, is responsible for providing QA input into all facets of the project, beginning with the design review to the creation and execution of test cases to review of procedures and automation. The individual in this role must be involved and providing value during all phases of the project. Key to success will be great communication with the rest of the scrum team and an understanding of each team member's roles and limitations. This position is ideally suited to a pro-active scrum Tester with experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Major responsibility will include coordinating testing across entire projects, and, as such, will be helping others on the team ensure code coverage and overall quality. Also responsible for all other duties as assigned.

Support
  • Work with product owners to establish acceptance tests and communicate with developers these requirements.
  • Influence
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the organization.
  • Consult and collaborate with database and software developers.
  • Make recommendations and assessments of software readiness.
Drive
  • Create multi-tiered test plans that may include multiple environments and / or products.
  • Create and execute manual test cases and document results.
  • Write clear and concise defects reports and validate defect fixes across multiple environments.
  • Utilize HP Quality Center for all test management, development, execution, documentation and defect management activities.
  • Write and execute queries against structured databases.
  • Define produce and analyze QA metrics.
  • Estimate level of effort across all of the QA phases in complexity and hours as an input to project planning.
Maintain
  • Understand and work in an Agile / Scrum software development environment.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage competing priorities and utilize problem solving skills to resolve any identified real or potential issues and/or bottlenecks.
  • Maintain and enhance testing suites and procedures.
  • Show creativity and initiative to improve product coverage and effectiveness.
  • Create and maintain documentation for quality assurance procedures.

Equivalent Education Level Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent education.

Experience Required: Minimum 4 - 6 years of experience in Quality Assurance with a solid understanding of software QA testing standards. Must possess an understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) with in-depth product knowledge.

Knowledge Required: HP Quality Center. Quick Test Professional and Load Runner (preferable but not required). Rational testing tools, SQL and PL/SQL technologies, as well as SQL tools including TOAD or equivalent. An understanding of how to approach the project with a customer service attitude. Self-motivated, requiring minimal supervision, strong written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational skills. QA related certification a plus. Financial systems experience a plus Testing Software as a Service (SAS) a plus. Excellent written and verbal communications skills as would be needed to communicate in person, by phone, and through email; adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to read, write, evaluate, and apply information. Ability to interact professionally and exhibit appropriate social skills. Ability to understand and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing our industry/business and products. Ability to develop and maintain business relationships.

Physical Requirements: Sitting for long periods of time; standing occasionally; walking; bending; squatting; kneeling; pushing/pulling; reaching; twisting; frequent lifting of less than 10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.; typing; data entry; grasping; transferring items between hands and/or to another person or receptacle; use of office equipment to include computers; ability to travel to, be physically present at, and complete the physical requirements of the position at any assigned location. Ability to quickly learn and successfully utilize all technology required to perform essential job functions.

Travel: As needed, less than 10%
