Currently seeking a Distribution Engineer for a long term opportunity in the Gainesville, FL area.

Candidates will be responsible for the following job duties:

  • Assist Electric Engineering Technicians in designing, engineering and generating cost estimates to furnish electrical services
  • Assists in gathering information for load studies, outage analysis, low voltage problems, customer complaints, site plans, road construction projects, and other information related to the operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution system
  • Furnishes technical engineering advice and information to customers, electricians, builders and developers and other inter-City departments
  • Supervises a small technical staff in creating and maintaining records and drawings of the electric distribution system using manual, computerized, CAD, and GIS systems
  • Reviews work orders generated by Engineering Technicians for completeness and adherence to construction and design standards.
  • Supervises technical staff in operating, designing, engineering, and generating cost estimates for the transmission and distribution electric system including: substations, distribution system, installation of switches, capacitors, voltage regulators, protection schemes, and system modifications for new substations.
  • Responsible for reviewing the transmission and distribution protection system and initiating fault studies to enhance system reliability and insure the proper coordination of all protective devices.
  • Will be responsible for distribution designs (poles, wires, etc.)- both overhead and underground

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years experience covering the essential job functions, as well as overhead and underground electric distribution engineering design.
  • Extensive knowledge of the NESC
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical highly preferred, Mechanical considered)
  • EIT or PE cert highly preferred
  • 6+ years experience preferred
