Basic Functions:

          Reporting directly to the Zone Loss Prevention Manager with dotted-line responsibility to the Store Manager, the Loss Prevention Agent is responsible for reducing inventory losses due to internal theft, shoplifting and paperwork errors.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. External Theft Prevention
    1. The identification, prevention and apprehension as required of shoplifters in accordance with Michaels Loss Prevention Agent Training.

 

  1. Loss Prevention Awareness
  1. Conduct training sessions for all store associates on the ways to identify and prevent losses due to shoplifting, employee theft and paperwork errors.

 

  1. Physical Security Standards
  1. Conduct monthly facility inspections ensure all burglar/fire alarm systems, exterior and interior entry/exits, fire extinguishers and C.C.T.V. are functioning safely and properly.

 

  1. Internal Theft
  1. The identification of employee theft and investigation as directed by the Zone Loss Prevention Manager.

 

  1. Accident/Incident Investigations
  1. Document and communicate to the appropriate parties any incident, injury or illness  related to the store.

 

  1. Emergency Procedures
  1. Assist in all emergencies as required

 

  1. Customer Service
  1. Ensures the highest level of customer service for all associates at all times.

 

  1. Miscellaneous
  1. Maintain the department’s code of conduct and confidentiality.
  2. Conduct any other duties as requested by the Zone Loss Prevention Manager.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school education or equivalent in order to read and write, and perform basic math functions. 
  • Retail Loss Prevention experience. 
  • Must understand the importance of shrinkage and margin control. 
  • Communication skills are needed to effectively interact with customers, store associates and management.
  • Preferred: LPQ-LPC Certification
