Job Summary:
Performs technical laboratory testing in the physician's office.
Essential Duties:
* Performs proper patient and specimen identification, specimen labeling, handling, transportation, and storage.
* Has an understanding of general laboratory procedures.
* Has a working knowledge of reagents, quality control products, calibrators.
* Has strong problem solving skills
* Has the ability to establish effective work relationships with patients and medical staff.
* Is able to work independently.
* Complies with all laboratory policies and procedures.
* Knows and complies with all CLIA regulations
* Performs laboratory testing: QC, calibrations, patients.
* Performs analyzer maintenance as indicated by laboratory policies and manufacturer's instructions.
* Maintain required log books.
* Performs and passes proficiency testing.
* Maintains patient and associate privacy and confidentiality.
* Monitors and troubleshoots analyzers.
* Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education:
Associate degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Technician
Licensure:
Licensed in the State of Tennessee as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical
Technologist
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year experience performing non-waived tests in a moderate complexity laboratory preferred.
