About this job
* The Technologist selects and operates all radiology equipment as directed and provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
* Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
* Checks patient's chart to confirm order and checks arm bands to confirm identity.
* Moves X-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.
* Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination.
* Operates mobile X-ray equipment in Operating Room, Emergency Room, or at patient's bedside.
* Assists in performing CPR. CPR certification required.
* Transfers patients safely to X-ray table, wheelchairs, stretchers, etc. with use of slider board as needed for difficult or trauma patients.
* Responds promptly when work is to be done, transports patients, schedules procedures, processes films to eliminate patient wait.
* Completes radiographic exams in acceptable time (routine procedures six (6) minutes).
* Films are of good technical quality and repeat rate is below 5
* Able to evaluate patient's condition and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
* May be required to perform other assignments from time to time as requested by the Department Leader.
Education: Must have successfully passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and have completed two (2) years of training in an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
