POSITION SUMMARY

Works under the direct supervision of the nurse manager. The position is accountable to nurse manager & Director of Heart & Vascular Center. Performs the primary functions of an RN in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating, the care of all assigned patients on the unit during his/her shift. Accepts the responsibility of the directing co-workers in the management of hospital resources (personnel, supplies, and equipment). The RN is responsible for assisting physicians in the performance of invasive and non-invasive procedures. The employee shall add support and contribute to departmental objectives by assisting manager with in-services and presentations. The RN shall adhere to established policies and procedures of the hospital and Heart & Vascular unit. Supports the hospital's philosophy, goals, and objectives and fosters that support among the staff. Assists with the control of supplies. Work schedule may vary with procedure volumes. Ability to perform office and clerical duties and other assigned tasks as requested. Demonstrates strong critical care skills by understanding the clinical decisions and responsibilities to address patients we serve. Completes competencies developed for the nursing department including critical care and Heart & Vascular unit competencies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

2. Licensed in Kentucky. CCRN preferred.

3. ACLS certified.

4. Minimum of 3 to 5 years in cardiac/ vascular (special procedures) or 3 to 5 years critical care experience.

5. Employee must demonstrate strong working knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac monitoring and IABP management, PCI experience preferred.

An essential function of this position is to comply with BSHSI Policy (SYS.HR.NUR.001) which requires, as a condition of employment, that all registered nurses with diplomas or associate degrees who apply and are hired after May 1, 2015 complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five years of start date.
