Key performance areas

As the Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, installation, and repair of all mechanical systems and equipment, working from drawings, manufacturer’s documentation, specifications, plant layout sketches, and general instructions. This will include routine testing and inspections to ensure equipment and systems are operating properly and efficiently, as well as, troubleshooting various systems and equipment and repairing mechanical malfunctions. You will be expected to maintain good communication with your supervisor by keeping him/her informed of quality, maintenance, safety, production, and other related issues, and obtain supervisory approval for any deviations from standard procedures.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Conduct regular PM on mechanical manufacturing equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions, locate source of problem, and replace defective equipment and components.
  • Maintain the established routine maintenance program and respond as soon as possible to all emergencies
  • Follow environmental procedures with knowledge of waste handling, labeling, transporting and disposal
  • Test run all repairs to insure proper operation of unit or system
  • Refer unusual or recurring problems to supervisor
  • Complete all required and related paperwork such as job tickets
  • Maintain order and cleanliness in work area

Your Profile

The Maintenance Mechanic should possess a high school diploma or equivalent along with a minimum of 1 to 3 years manufacturing and industrial equipment repair experience in a similar industrial manufacturing environment. A Trade school or technical certificate is preferred. You have strong parts fabrications skills along with welding and fabrication experience and general facility maintenance experience. Wire mill equipment (ovens, furnaces, drawing machines) repair would be a plus. This role requires manual dexterity and visual and audio ability.

You should also possess:

  • Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing, including its safe usage, maintenance, and storage
  • Forklift experience
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to speak and read English
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and move up to 100 lbs., bend, walk and reach
