About this job

Plans and implements Speech Therapy programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of speech therapy. Serves as a resource and provides structured educational opportunities within the hospital in area(s) of training.

Education:

* The Speech Pathologist must be a graduate of an accredited school of Speech Pathology, with an M.A or M.S. degree.

Licensures and Certifications:

* Licensed Speech Pathologist - SP-L Required.

Skills and Knowledge:

* Language skills -- ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, customers and the general public.

* Mathematical skills -- ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

* Reasoning -- ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.). Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
