Overview
 
Schwan’s Consumer Brands, Inc. (a subsidiary of The Schwan Food Company) has created and developed some of the nation’s most recognized and successful brands, such as Red Baron®, Freschetta®, Pagoda®, Edwards®, and Mrs. Smith’s® brands, among others. The position of Brand Manager, Innovation is a key organization position that is responsible for leading elements of the Schwan’s Consumer Brands innovation strategy and execution, and ensuring its application and synergy across the TSFC.
 
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Responsible for helping deliver gross sales, net sales and EBIT targets for Innovation/Product Business team
  • Responsible for developing innovation objectives and strategies, and the innovation pipeline for key categories
  • Leads the new product process and innovation platforms for key categories, including planning and participating in brainstorming sessions, participate in platform insight development including; consumer focus groups, ethnographies, and concept writing support for innovation ideas
  • Develops and commercializes new products based on consumer insights and clearly identified product strategy.  This includes project management leadership, collaboration with R&D and cross functional team, product formula direction, packaging (structure and graphics), forecasting, product P&Ls, launch and distribution plans
  • Oversees on-going analytical support to innovation initiatives in areas of key performance indicators (KPIs), such as competitive analysis of segment competitors, critical trend analysis, and syndicated research review
  • Commercializes advertising and promotional programs including fully integrated consumer communications, coupon and consumer promotions related to new product launches
  • Participate in the coordination of activities essential to Customer HQ Sales planning process, including ensuring new products are appropriately represented in all internal & external communication efforts, Developing sales materials and sell sheets for new items, system needs (new upcs/codes
  • Responsible for Innovation team budget and forecasts, and primary point of contact for S&OP process
  • Participates in building and promoting strong relationships within brand, channels and sales community, including facilitation of regular collaborative meetings with Brand Marketing and Channels teams
  • Maintain up-to-date 3 year pipeline document for CB Brands, CB Innovation, CB Channels
  • Leads direct reports in the above brand/product related business- building programs
Qualification:
Education\: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.  MBA Preferred
 
Years of Related Experience\: Typically has a minimum 6 years related experience.
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities\:
  • Thorough knowledge of the marketing function, brand management strategy and growth drivers
  • Strong marketer who understands how to leverage insights into positioning, branding, communication &  innovation
  • Experienced in developing new products and track record of successful product innovation leadership
  • Has strategic thinking, analytical capacity and critical thinking skills to develop sound business cases
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across the organization and build strong relationships
  • Ability to influence peers and all levels of management
  • Demonstrated experience in managing P&L to ensure delivery of business goals;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams to drive forward key initiatives
  • Strong work ethic and Demonstrates highest integrity and company values
  • Understands ones strengths and weaknesses and their impact on others, and can understand and practice the How We Work, How We Lead culture aspects
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook products.
