Job Description:

3M is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the Electronics and Energy Business Group located in Menomonie, WI. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter.

Job Summary:

Perform routine and non-routine Plant Engineering work as assigned. Diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, service and repair plant and/or process equipment, facility support and material handling equipment. Provide fabrication and welding support.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

* Experience with diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair and maintaining mechanical equipment, systems or processes on slitters, extruders, web systems, conveyors, winders, compressors, pumps, etc)

* Machining and fabrication of parts. Support area like welding, brazing, rigging and tramming of equipment, and general building repair

* Continue to upgrade skills and experience on new or advanced equipment and process technologies as relates to supporting routine and non-routine work assignments

* Ability to use the Internet to find vendor / manufacturing information needed to service and repair equipment

* Document maintenance and related functions using the CMMS computerized Shop Work Order System, electronic and manual log books, and Lotus Notes

* Work with engineers, technicians or craft people during troubleshooting, repair or modify equipment, systems or processes

* Contribute technical recommendations regarding the improvement or optimization of facility equipment and/or process equipment as needed

This position will require:

* Working any shift available, depending on availability

* Working overtime

* Weekend work

* Working on holidays as needed

* Short notice shift coverage

Basic Qualifications:

* Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher

* Currently possess, or in the last seven (7) months of obtaining, a two (2) year technical degree or diploma in a maintenance mechanical or electro-mechanic field OR a minimum of five (5) years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

* Possess an Associate degree in a technical discipline AND a minimum of three (3) years industrial experience

* Experience with manufacturing and/or manufacturing technology on web processing equipment

* Experience with welding fabrication and machine tool technology

* Experience working with Windows-based computer systems

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with people at all levels of the organization
