Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for assisting the supervising physician(s) within the supervising physician's normal course of practice to provide quality care for patients and to increase patient access and satisfaction.

Standard tasks to be performed by a physician assistant under Direct Supervision to include:

Assess patients Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform physical exams.
Order and perform routine diagnostic procedures Develop and implement treatment plans
Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
Provide instruction to meet patient needs
Institute and change orders on patient charts as directed by the supervising physician

Job Duties and Requirements:

NJ APN/RN license or PA license required
BLS required,
ACLS preferred.
APN or PA for orthopedic surgical program
Must be able to reduce fractures in ER
Minimum two years' experience in acute care setting; preferably in the orthopedic medicine specialty
Evening Shift: 3-11 PM schedule
40 hours per week
2-5 years experience
Position located in Somerset, NJ

Annual number of surgeries is 450 with anticipated growth in the next 3 years
Emergency call requirements, call from home.
Types of Surgeries:  Fracture reductions/splinting.  Assisting in OR for cases typical joint replacements, fracture work

Fun Facts About Somerset, NJ

Somerset County is one of America's oldest counties. The area was first settled in 1681, in the vicinity of Bound Brook, and the county was established by charter on May 22, 1688. Most of the early residents were Dutch. General George Washington and his troops marched through the county on several occasions and slept in many of the homes located throughout the area. Parts of the Delaware and Raritan Canal run through the county. Somerset County also played an important part during both World War I and World War II with weapons depots and the manufacturing of the army's woolen blankets.
