Responsibilities

Demonstrates a competent level of the nursing process involving assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

1.1. Initiates nursing assessment upon arrival with completion of assessment relevant to patients' condition and triage of other patients.

1.2. Historic and diagnostic data is correlated with patient's assessment and changes in condition are recognized.

1.3. Demonstrates proficiency and assumes full responsibility in critical situations with: accurate documentation, chemical intervention, and technical skills

1.4. Demonstrates skills in triage assessments and treatments.

1.5. Identifies and individualizes plan and expected outcomes with patient and/or significant others and other disciplines.

1.6. Implements the interventions identified in the plan of care.

1.7. Available diagnostic information is reviewed to develop a holistic approach to patient care.

1.8. Holistic nursing care is provided through collaboration with other health team members.

1.9. Nursing care is provided which reflects consideration of discharge or transfer needs.

1.10. Charting reflects patient's presentation status and condition, history of presenting illness and complete assessment utilizing approved documentation methods.

1.11. Evaluates clients progress toward attainment of expected outcomes on an ongoing basis.

1.12. Determines education needs and provides or arranges for these needs to be met.

1.13. Patient response to therapy and teaching is documented.

Participates in quality of care activities as appropriate to his/her individual position, using the results to initiate changes in practice to improve the delivery of health care.

Demonstrates safety, infection control, risk management and cost effectiveness in the planning and delivery of care.

3.1. Delivers safe and effective care according to policies and procedures.

3.2. Practices Universal Precautions and proper disposal of infectious wastes.

3.3. Incident Reports and Areas of Concern are completed by end of shift being worked.

3.4. Cognizant of cost related to patient care. Practices good judgement to prevent wasting or excess use of supplies. Organizes and prioritizes assignments to complete them with minimal or no overtime required. Overtime must be approved by Supervisor.

3.5. Completed Competency Checklist pertinent to unit by end of probation period and annually.

3.6. Ensures equipment checks are completed according to policies and procedures, safety operated all equipment utilized in the area.

3.7. Ensures that supplies are reordered/charged by end of shift being worked.

3.8. Maintains a clean, presentable work environment.

Evaluates his/her nursing performance relating to accepted professional standards of practice.

4.1. Attends or views 100% of mandatory meetings.

4.2. Continuing education pertinent to area of clinical practice.

4.3. Remains updated on health center and unit activities by attending unit meetings.

4.4. Current CPR certification. ACLS provider required, TNCC and PALS required.

4.5. Demonstrates cooperativeness and support by conforming to established policies and procedures and working with others.

4.6. Reviews/attends in-service for all new/revised policies and procedures. Reviews all others on an annual basis.

Position Qualifications:

* We require a nursing degree from an accredited school.

* You'll also need a current RN license in our state.

* Basic life support training should be completed in 90 days with advanced training required at certain intervals.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from accredited school of nursing with current registration and license to practice in the state of Kansas.

Licensure: License to practice in the state of Kansas.

Experience: One year Med/Surg experience preferred but will train the right candidate. Critical Care or Emergency Department experience preferred.

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (and ACLS, PALS, TNCC) through the American Heart Association is required. Co-workers must either submit a copy of a card showing current credentialing to Human Resources upon hire or must complete the training within 90 days.

Other: Ability to multi task and critically think required. Professional communication skills required. Push/pull up to 125lbs. Grip up to 30lbs. Coordination continuously.
